Standards of Professional Practice
Members are governed by established minimum standards of performance in the rendering
of professional services & inspire public confidence in the Appraisal Institute
designations.
Relations with Local Government, Related Organizations
and The Public
The BC Association Appraisal Institute of Canada monitors provincial government
affairs of interest to members and has an effective presence in Victoria. The
National body liaises with the Federal government agencies. Network & Fellowship
The opportunity to meet with and learn from one's colleagues is an essential component
of the development of every profession. Local chapter and provincial meetings,
seminars, bi-annual conferences, as well as the annual National conference provide
a forum for networking and fellowship with peers. Professional Development Continuing
professional development is a vital component of any profession. Occasions for
designated members to continue their professional development are offered through
national, provincial conferences and seminars within a mandatory CPD program.
Local chapters hold regular meetings, which provide a forum for discussion, education
and networking.
Professional Liability Insurance Program
The AIC provides it's members with a mandatory liability insurance coverage for
errors & omissions in the performance of the services for which they are qualified
by the Institute.
Group Insurance
A group insurance program is available to members at very competitive rates. The
program includes dental and extended health, general life, disability and business
expense disability insurance. Each plan can be specifically designed to suit the
need of the member and pooled to ensure the best possible benefits and premiums.

Canadian Appraiser
Published quarterly this national magazine provides members and the public with
articles on the profession. Articles are written by respected industry specialists
on key issues & topics of interest to the membership.
WestCoast Appraiser
The association provides a quarterly newsletter to keep you in touch with changes
to policies, what the organization is involved in and to bring you news about
activities that may be of interest to you. It is mailed to you and is also offered
on-line in the members section of the website.
AIC Designated Membership Directory
These are printed annually. Personal advertising in the directory is available
at reasonable costs. The directory is distributed to industry professionals Canada
wide through direct mail and also through Trade-shows and functions attended by
the Institute and Association. For the public the directory is also available
on the website in 'Find an Appraiser'.
